High 5 for Disaster Relief

Posted by & filed under News.

The Susquehanna Area Mission Council of the Penn Northeast Conference has challenged all churches in both PNEC and PSEC to share in its annual mission project. The challenge is to raise funds to support our common disaster relief ministry.

Some of the funds raised will be used to help a family in Sinking Spring, Berks County, recover. They sustained damage to their home and car due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The Berks Community Organizations Active in Disaster, Berks County Department of Emergency Services, and Pennsylvania Department of Human Services have supported the work of a Liberty Lutheran Services case worker. The unmet need that our funds would support is helping provide transportation for employment and to the children’s medical appointments for chronic medical conditions.

Donations from your church should be forwarded to the PSEC Conference office marked “High 5 for Disaster Relief Berks Ida need.”

A virtual Celebration will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2022, at 3:00 PM ET, featuring Lesli Remaly, UCC national Minister for Disaster Response and Recovery, Rev. Dr. Bonnie Bates, Rev. Kevin McLemore, and Rev. Nancy Hardy, our host from SAMC. The link will be shared at a later date.
